Most people experience some level of heightened sensation or discomfort during the piercing procedure. The amount of discomfort you may feel is influenced not only by the location of the piercing but by your state of mind. When performed by an experienced piercer, most piercings require only a second to be performed. Many people find breathing exercises helpful towards relaxation, concentrating on breathing slowly and deeply during the entire procedure, even while the piercer is preparing for the piercing. Many piercers will work with your breathing pattern. Holding your breath will cause you to tense.

Most piercees say they are in no discomfort whatsoever once the piercing session is over. Some clients report that they are aware of something being there or experience some intermittent tingling, slight stinging or a pinching sensation for a while afterwards. This can range from minutes to a few days. Tenderness is to be expected from most piercings during the first few cleanings and if you bump it.

I suggest that if you like your piercings you leave something in them at all times. Ears tend to stay open well without jewelry on most folks, but the same is not true of most body piercings. Removing your jewelry, even if you have had a piercing for years, is a trial and error process. If you need an X-Ray, MRI, CAT Scan, Mammogram or other medical procedure, you can use Tygon or PTFE. These are retainer options the same thickness as your jewelry that can be inserted in the piercing to keep the hole open in situations where metal jewelry is not acceptable. We keep retainers in stock and can assist in putting them in.

Many women leave their body jewelry in place. Some women leave jewelry in during their entire pregnancy and delivery. If, during your pregnancy your piercing(s) becomes uncomfortable, you can replace the jewelry with Tygon or PTFE. These will bend with your changing body and be more comfortable. Once your pregnancy is over, you can return to the jewelry. If there is no discomfort, you can leave the jewelry as it is. The feedback I’ve gotten from women who are breast feeding is either that it doesn’t change anything at all, or that milk comes from the piercing sites, as well as the milk ducts. Most women do remove their jewelry to breast feed because of the potential choking hazard if jewelry becomes loose.

The minimum piercing age in our studio is 13. For any piercing of a minor, a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a consent form. Proof of positive state issued photo identification is required from the legal guardian and a bona fide form of identification from the minor. Under no circumstances is it acceptable or appropriate for a piercer to perform piercing on the nipples or genitals of an individual under 18 years of age.

Get plenty of rest the night before. Eat a good meal and drink plenty of fluids within 6 hours of getting pierced. Do not consume alcohol, large amounts of caffeinated beverages, or blood-thinning medications within 12 hours prior to or 24 hours after getting pierced (or 24 hours after the piercing stops bleeding). If you must take blood-thinning medication discuss this with your piercer and your doctor prior to your appointment. Wear clean clothes. Depending on the location of your piercing, do not wear restrictive clothing. If you are getting a facial piercing, do not wear makeup around the piercing site. If you are getting an ear piercing, wear your hair away from your ear. If you are considering getting more than one piercing in a single session, consider factors such as your body’s ability to heal multiple piercings and comfort during the healing period.

Tattoo Questions

In our experience the best tattoos are created and designed when working closely and in person with an artist. Working together, we can explore the many creative possibilities, options & artistic styles available and design a tattoo that is perfect for you.

We would love to quote tattoo prices and/or schedule appointments by phone, social media or e-mail. However, there are just too many variables involved.

If you would like a price quote or to schedule a tattoo appointment please plan to come into our bright state-of-the-art studio where we can give you the undivided personal attention you deserve.

--------------------------------------------------

Our tattoo minimum is $60 and our hourly rate is $125-150.
We price in two ways, either by the hour or with a set price.
If your tattoo requires more than 3 consecutive hours in one session, we price hourly at $125 - $150. If your tattoo is less than 3 hours you will have a set price (agreed upon by you and your artist beforehand).
Most prices can easily be obtained in the studio without an appointment. Just walk in and we will happily help you price your tattoo! Prices are determined by the size, time & complexity. Designs can be made larger, smaller and/or modified to fit your budget. Just let us know how much you feel comfortable spending and we will work closely with you to design a tattoo that fits your price range.

Yes!!! We accept walk-ins on a “first come – first served” basis. If we are not available/booked when you walk in we may suggest you schedule an appointment.

Discuss your ideas with an artist BEFORE you get a tattoo.

Consultations provide an excellent opportunity for you to meet with an artist to creatively explore the many possible options & artistic styles to design your perfect tattoo. It is also a great time to ask any questions you may have about the tattooing process in general. It will allow you and your artist to work closely together to best define the many variables that will ultimately determine the time, price and scope of your tattoo.

Consultations can be done in two ways, either by “walk-in” or with a “Consultation Appointment”.

Consultation by Walk-in: If your tattoo is medium size, smaller or less complex you may not need an appointment at all and we can usually consult with you on the spot. Just come on in and we will help!

If your tattoo is medium size, smaller or less complex you may not need an appointment at all and we can usually consult with you on the spot. Just come on in and we will help!

These are generally reserved for larger and more complex tattoos requiring a more in-depth discussion and/or evaluation (i.e. sleeves and custom artwork etc.) “Consultation Appointments” are FREE and without obligation, however a $20.00 cash deposit is required in advance to book time with an artist (We often book 1-2 hours for you). This deposit is immediately refunded to you at your appointment provided you do not miss it. This helps eliminate “no-shows” and allows us to work with serious clientele on a professional basis.

Sorry, we DO NOT schedule consultations without the deposit. Artists are available for consultations daily by from 10:30 to 11:30am

All tattoo appointments require a cash deposit (We have an ATM!) NO - credit cards, money orders, cashier’s checks, etc. Sorry – no phone, e-mail, social media, text appointments etc.

--------------------------------------------------

Please Note: We DO NOT quote prices or schedule appointments by phone or e-mail. The minimum price for a tattoo is $60.00. Thereafter, the price varies on the time involved, size, location and complexity of the tattoo. Oftentimes, most price quotes can easily be obtained in the studio without an appointment. The price is also up to you because most designs can be made larger, more complex, smaller and/or simplified to fit your budget. Just let your artist know what you would like and how much you feel comfortable with spending, and s/he will work with you to help establish a tattoo within your price range. Whether it is a large custom piece or a small tattoo, you are purchasing a hand crafted and unique piece of art. This is something that will outlast most all of your purchases in life so don’t compromise! “Cheap tattoos aren’t always good & good tattoos aren’t always cheap.” Consultations – Discuss your ideas or design with an artist BEFORE you get a tattoo. Artists are available for consultations daily from 12:30 to 1:00pm to assist you. This is an excellent opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the tattooing process. It will also allow you and your artist to work closely together to best define the many variables that will determine the overall price and scope of your tattoo. If an artist is available when you walk in, we will gladly assist you then. However, if we are busy we may suggest you schedule a consultation. Consultations are free and without obligation, however a $20.00 cash deposit is required in advance to reserve time with an artist. This helps eliminate “no-shows” and allows us to work with serious clientele on a professional basis. Sorry, we DO NOT schedule consultations without the deposit.

We are a state of the art facility and literally have thousands of designs (a.k.a. Flash) to choose from. We also have access to the internet, have an extensive library of tattoo and art related material for reference or we can design a tattoo specifically for you. It is important that you have a good idea regarding what you want, and we encourage you to bring any kind of art or reference material that will help us interpret your idea. If you already have the exact image of what you want, we can help translate that for you too. “If we can’t find what you are looking for we aren’t trying hard enough!"

Yes, we are skilled enough to make a tattoo really small and detailed BUT that will not make a good tattoo. No matter who applies the tattoo, or how a tattoo is applied, the ink can migrate a bit over time. A tattoo is INSIDE of skin cells and not on top of paper. Lines applied too close to one another can blur together, and in some cases alter lettering or destroy a design a few years or even months down the road. Your tattooist is a professional and we want your tattoo to look good. Of course we could make money doing it, but never at the expense of doing a bad tattoo. Listen to your tattooist’s advice and make your tattoo a size that will last and be enjoyed for years. Making a tattoo design bigger is rarely a problem and is encouraged more often than not.

Some say yes, while others actually enjoy the sensation. It is important to be prepared mentally as well as physically by being in good health, well-rested and well-fed, and by not worrying about it that much beforehand – it really is not as bad as imagination can make it out to be. The more relaxed you are the easier the process, and within a few minutes your body will release endorphins (which are natural pain killers) that ease your discomfort. The experience is different for everyone and everyone’s definition of the discomfort will be different, it is impossible to say exactly how it will feel for you. Generally, everyone does just fine. Some spots do hurt more than others. A few general rules do apply such as: the more muscular areas (upper arm or calf) will hurt less than the bonier areas next to nerves (elbow or ribs). Sensitive parts of your body will sting a bit more to get tattooed, “If you are ticklish there, it’s probably going to hurt a bit.” It really is best to get your tattoo where you want it. The placement of the tattoo is solely up to you. The tattoo will be there long after the pain fades. If it were that painful, people wouldn’t keep coming back for more and more and… Please do not take any non-prescription medications or use alcohol before your tattoo. Certain drugs/alcohol can lead to excessive bleeding or have other adverse reactions. Oregon law also prohibits tattooing while under the influence and we DO comply with ALL laws, rules and regulations!!!

No. This is not a good idea and not necessary. There are no reliable topicals on the market right now. If there were, it would be one more factor that could affect the tattoo procedure, healing, or longevity of the tattoo. Everybody is different and mixing a topical chemical with the tattoo inks could lead to potential problems. The others before you made it, and a tattoo is a “beautiful reward that you earn.”

You must be 18 years old with a valid photo I.D. – State issued drivers license or identification card. Everyone must show a photo .ID. with their date of birth which will be photocopied in order to get tattooed. Oregon state law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from getting a tattoo (regardless of parental consent). NO EXCEPTIONS! Under age? Don’t be discouraged! Come into the studio and plan ahead. We won’t discriminate based on age, we just can’t tattoo you…YET! But, we CAN when you’re 18! It is never too early to research your future design or artist in advance. We are happy to help you discuss all your questions about tattooing. We’ll even give you $10.00 off your first tattoo and free aftercare for your 18th birthday (Just mention it’s your 18th B.D. when you show your I.D.).

General Questions

Our facility is inspected and fully licensed by the State of Oregon Health Licensing Agency and the City of Medford. All tattoo and piercing licenses are clearly on display in the studio. Pursuant to ORS 345.010(4), Education and training in the field of tattooing shall be conducted by a school of tattooing, licensed by the Oregon Department of Education, Private Career Schools, and provided by instructors approved by the Department under ORS 345 and OAR chapter 581 Division 045. All artists have extensive training and full licensing as required by Oregon state law. In addition to schooling as required by state law the owner has completed “formal” apprenticeships with “old timers” as “required” in our industry the “old school” way. Additionally, we have extensive training in First Aid, CPR, OSHA, blood borne pathogens, universal precautions, waste disposal, sanitation, disinfection & sterilization. Getting a tattoo by an amateur in their home or elsewhere can be very dangerous, especially if they have no knowledge of sterilization or safe operating procedures. Many communicable diseases can be present in a dirty non-sterile environment. The money spent on a professional tattoo studio is well worth the assurance that the only thing you will get is an awesome tattoo.

We NEVER reuse needles or ink! ALL NEEDLES ARE SINGLE USE ONLY meaning you will NEVER share a needle with another person…EVER…PERIOD!!! Ointments, pigments, needles, gloves, razors, plastic barriers, and ink caps used in applying your new tattoo are discarded after each use.

Price shopping is encouraged! The best thing we can tell you is it is a “buyer beware” market. Sterilization and protecting your health is extremely important and one of the primary things you should look for. The artist’s portfolio is also very important. We strongly encourage you to examine your prospective tattooist’s portfolio VERY closely before getting a tattoo. You will want to find an artist you feel comfortable with and that you can trust. We are very confident that you will find the quality of our work and prices extremely affordable. Next to safe tattoo procedures, the artist’s portfolio is crucial. Our portfolios are proudly displayed in our studio to show our diversity, our originality, our experience, and quality of tattoos. This is very important. Find an artist whose style and technical aspects appeal to you, and look closely for crisp application of the tattoos. Tattooing is incredibly difficult. Without years of theory, study, the correct knowledge, and application experience, a tattooist cannot apply a good tattoo. Always ask to see the artist’s work, they should be proud to show you. There is no better way to see their art work than to see their tattoos. Look closely at the line and color quality of the tattoos. Ask people where they got tattooed, especially if you really like the work you see. We are proud of our reputation.
